Media Center Mission Statement
The purpose of our Media Center is to provide resources that support the Maryland State Voluntary curriculum and support the needs of a diverse student population. Furthermore, we strive to provide our students with an integrated instructional program that will aid them in becoming effective users of ideas and information. We believe that the media center is an integral part of student achievement. Thus, we make every effort to provide a learning environment that will allow all students to develop their potential and awaken their creative expression.

Media Manners - Book Care Expectations
Kindergarten, first and second grade students choose Everybody and easy nonfiction books. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students may select from any section of the Media Center. However, all students are required to take good care of all library material. Below are some tips for taking good care of library books and materials.
- Always have clean hands before looking at or reading your library books.
- Do not eat or drink near your library books.
- Always carry your library books in a clean book-bag.
- Do not draw on or cut the pages in your library books.
- Always bring damaged books to Mrs. Martin or Mrs. McEvoy so they can fix it.
- Please keep library books away from younger brothers and sisters AND pets.
- Always use a bookmark to keep your place in a book. Never bend the pages.
-
Have a "special place" at home where you can keep your books safe and ready to return to the library media center on your library day.

Media Center Stars
Be a star at the CCES Media Center. Beginning this year, any student in K through 5th grade who remembers to return their library books every single Media day during each quarter will have their pictures taken and displayed on a star on our media center bulletin board. Those students who receive this honor for all four quarters will get a special surprise at the end of the school year. Please see Mrs. Martin for more details.
